Legal Analysis
In the case of adoptions, under Law No. 548 of July 17, 2014 (Children and Adolescents Code), Article 86, adoption is granted only through a final judicial ruling issued in the best interests of the child. After the ruling, the adopted child must be registered with the Civil Registry Service (SERECI). However, the law does not clearly specify the procedure for amending the original birth record following adoption.
