Recommended Practice based on International Guidelines
The UN recommends that following (high priority) statistical topics be collected at death registration:
Date and Place of Registration
Date and Place of Occurrence
Cause of Death
Certifier
Date of birth
Sex
Marital Status
Place of Usual Residence
Place of usual residence of mother (for deaths under 1 year)
Bolivia
Legal Analysis
Partially. Death registration includes information on date and place of occurrence, date and place of registration, cause of death, and certifier. However, the death certificate does not collect all UN-recommended variables. Missing items include the deceased’s date of birth (only age is recorded), sex, marital status, place of usual residence, and, for deaths under one year, the mother’s place of usual residence.
