The UN recommends that the following (high priority) statistical topics be collected at birth include:
Date and place of occurrence of birth
Date and place of registration
Attendant at birth
Type of birth (single, twin, triplet, etc)
Sex
Weight of the newborn
Date of birth of mother/father
Marital status of mother
Educational attainment of mother/father
Place of usual residence of mother/father Duration of residence in usual place of mother
Place/country of birth of mother
Children born alive to mother during her entire lifetime
Foetal deaths to mother during lifetime
Date of last previous live birth
Date of Marriage
Some high priority topics are not collected, including: Education attainment of mother/father, children born alive to mother during her entire lifetime, fetal deaths to mother during her entire lifetime, and date of last previous live birth. Some other high priority topics are not collected, but need not be collected, because they are available in the population register, including: Place of usual residence of mother/father, duration of residence in usual place, place/country of birth of mother/father.

Place of usual residence of mother (for deaths under 1 year)
The only high priority topic not collected is attendant at birth (for deaths under 1 year of age). Collection of cause of death data (and certifier) is collected only in some sub-national jurisdiction, and only for health facility deaths. Some high priority topics are not collected, and need not be collected, because they are available in the population register, including: marital status of deceased, place of usual residence of deceased, place of usual residence of mother (for deaths under 1 year).

Are the UN recommended high priority statistical topics collected for stillbirths (either through civil registration or the Ministry of Health)?
Recommended Practice based on International Guidelines
The UN recommends that the following (high priority) statistical topics be collected for stillbirths:
Date and place of registration (if applicable)
Date and place of occurrence
Sex of fetus
Characteristics of the mother (DOB, children born alive to mother/foetal deaths to mother during lifetime, date of last live birth, place of usual residence, date of marriage)
Characteristics of father (DOB and usual residence)
Marital status
WHO recommends that weeks of gestation and cause of death also be collected.
